Erie Hydraulic Press - Manufacturing History
In 1895, long before anyone had even dreamt of the hydraulic forging press, ERIE Press Systems opened its doors as the Erie Foundry Company. Originally established to produce gray iron castings for Erie's local stove manufacturing industry, more than a century of constant evolution has helped ERIE Press Systems become a leading supplier of hydraulic presses and other custom engineered forming equipment.
Along the way, ERIE Press Systems made many stops before we began manufacturing hydraulic presses in the mid-1950s. By the early 1920s we began specializing in steam powered forging hammers before eventually closing the foundry altogether to provide room for our expanding machining and assembly operations in 1940.
After beginning to produce hydraulic presses ERIE Press Systems added mechanical forging presses to the line as well. We continued to grow, eventually delving deep into integrated control systems to improve the efficiency of our presses later in the 20th century. Then, in 2001, we brought a stretch forming company into the folds of ERIE Press Systems in order to expand our capabilities and continue offering truly turnkey solutions to our customers.
Today, we still operate out of Erie, but we manufacture and repair hydraulic and mechanical presses for companies all across the globe from Bangkok to Berlin, from London to Los Angeles. We have built on over a hundred years of experience to deliver superior products and superior service. Innovations like our team-based engineering and our continuous improvement programs are aimed at ensuring your satisfaction. For hydraulic and mechanical press solutions, you won't find a better partner than ERIE Press Systems.
